Cash Machine Terms, Plainly Defined: A Working Glossary for Techs and Buyers
More spare parts get ordered wrong over vocabulary than over connectors. These are the terms the RMG Knowledge Base assumes, written plainly.
The deposit chain
- Escrow — a holding pocket: notes wait here until the system confirms the transaction, then either deposit or return. It is the reason cancelled deposits come back to you (working detail in the escrow-vs-drop guide).
- Validator / acceptor — the module that feeds, senses and decides on each note (field triage in the reject troubleshooting path).
- Cassette — the removable box holding stored notes. Not every cassette is a deposit cassette; dispenser cassettes feed the payout side.
The payout chain
- Pick wheel — the rubber finger that pulls the top note from a stack (relay detail in how dispensers work).
- Diverter — the gate that routes a single note to its destination.
- Shutter — the customer-facing door; a sealed shutter is anti-fish security, not decoration.
The machine types
- Recycler — deposited notes are dispensed again later; fewer reloads, more wear on transports.
- Deposit-only — notes enter and rest; the escrow design question comes from here.
The paperwork
- Revision — the internal version under the same model number; revision, not model, decides compatibility (the full check is the four-point compatibility guide).
- Market variant — the denomination/language build for a region. Spot it at the dock with the receiving-inspection routine.
Keep this page bookmarked for your next order review; the compatibility and receiving articles in the RMG Knowledge Base put these terms to work.
